Your First Visit
Initial Consultation
The first thing Guy McCammon, Sunbury chiropractor will do will be to give you an opportunity to discuss the reasons for your visit. You will be asked for a great deal of information - not just about the pain or complaint that may have brought you, but about your past health history. Some of these questions may appear irrelevant, but they are, nevertheless, extremely important in order to obtain an overall health picture.

After the case history has been obtained an examination will be performed to confirm any early ideas he may have about your problem. Female patients are always offered a gown to wear for this part of the initial consultation - as well as any treatment sessions afterwards.
Use of X-ray Investigations and Other Tests
X-rays may also need to be taken - but decisions will be made in consultation with you before any such procedure is undertaken. Typical patients who may require an X-ray are those who have had recent injuries, older patients where there may be a question relating to bone density, unusual examinations findings or a history of serious disease.
The First Treatment Visit
After the initial consultation is over, treatment is usually offered immediately. However, occasionally this may be delayed a day or two if Guy needs to obtain further information from your GP, view X-rays or perform further tests.

At your first treatment visit the results of the examination will be discussed. You will be told what is wrong with you and what can be done about it. You will be advised of your role in the treatment plan - of any lifestyle changes that would be beneficial or exercises that might help. There are many suggestions our Sunbury chiropractor might make in order to help you help yourself. A large part of getting better is up to you.
What Can I Expect During Treatment?
Chiropractic care mainly involves treatment by manipulation to the joints of the spine or other areas of the body. Most often this involves a short impulse to the joint, bringing relief of symptoms and an increased feeling of well-being. This is called an adjustment.

Before any procedure is undertaken our Guy will completely inform you of what to expect when you receive your first adjustment.

Generally, a chiropractic adjustment does not hurt - although there may be some minor short term discomfort which quickly passes for most patients.
Apart from the adjustment, our chiropractor in Sunbury may use a wide variety of techniques - including laser, electrotherapeutics, ice and heat, dry needling and exercises - among many other options.
